"Now do I get a kiss, sugah?"

Rogue's true identity and origin are unknown. She is a mutant with the power to absorb the powers and memories of anyone she touches. This great power was a curse to Rogue, for she could not touch anyone without sapping their strength and possible killing them. She was raised by the super criminal known as Mystique, and became a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. When the Brotherhood attacked the Avengers, Rogue used her powers to take down every member of the super hero group. Although all of the Avengers later recovered, Rogue found that she had permanently absorbed the powers and memories of Carol Danvers, aka Ms. Marvel. Rogue gained super strength, near invulnerability and the ability to fly, but she also gained Danvers' mind as well. Danvers went into a coma, and Rogue nearly went insane because of her dual personality. Desperate for help, she abandoned the Brotherhood and sought refuge with the X-Men.

Time has allowed her to rid herself of the Danvers personality, and she now uses Danvers' powers for good. She takes every precaution to avoid using her own absorption power, because of the great harm it can cause. She has falled in love with fellow X-Man Gambit, but her inability to even kiss the Cajun has strained their relationship. Despite all her hardships, Rogue remains a trusted and powerful member of the X-Men.
