An enormous Shokan warrior, Goro was born 2000 years ago to King Gorbak and Queen Mai of Kuatan. Kuatan was a province of the Outworld, which was ruled by Shao Kahn. The Shokan were held in high regard by Kahn, and Goro held a prominant position as the leader of the Shokan armies. It was Kahn's desire to possess the Earth realm, so five-hundred years ago he sent Goro and the sorcerer Shang Tsung to earth to take control of the Mortal Kombat tournament. The tournament was held once every decade, and warriors from around the world would attend to compete. Goro entered, and with his strength quickly became the champion. With his final opponent defeated, Goro allowed Shang Tsung to take control of the tournament, and thus began a reign that would last for centuries. Finally, after remaining undefeated for five-hundred years, Goro met his match in Liu Kang, and was believed to have been killed. It is possible that he is still alive, and is merely waiting for the moment to emerge from the Outworld and gain his revenge. |
