When Captain America learned of a sinister conspiracy within the
White House, he became disillusioned and gave up his costumed identity.
Realizing the importance of Captain America as a symbol of the United
States, high ranking officials decided to seek out a replacement. They
found John Walker, a man in superb physical shape. Walker became Captain
America for a time, and although he possessed a more brutal approach to
crime fighting he was nonetheless effective. When the real Cap returned,
Walker passed the mantle back to him and became USAgent. In his new role,
he joined the West Coast Avengers and functioned as a member until the
group dissolved. Now fighting crime solo, he stands ready to defend
America against any threat.
