JADE

Jade was born in Edenia, and was the childhood friend of Princess Kitana. She trained with the princess, and was proficient in the use of the bo-staff, although she could also use Kitana's fan blades with deadly precision. Like Kitana, Jade became one of Shao Kahn's bodyguards. When Kahn hosted the second Mortal Kombat tournament in the Outworld, Jade was assigned to keep an eye on Kitana. Kahn suspected the princess was plotting against him, and Jade was told to lay low and report any sign of betrayal to the emperor. Kitana did indeed turn on her master, but Jade could not bring herself to confront her friend and let her escape.

Some time later, when Kahn invaded the Earth realm, Jade was assigned to aid Reptile in tracking down Kitana. Jade was told to bring the princess back alive, and the two eventually found out where the princess was hiding. When Reptile attempted to assasinate Kitana, she turned on him and helped her friend fend off other Outworld menaces. This gave Kitana time to reach her mother Sindel and turn the tide of battle. When Kahn was defeated and Kitana was made the queen of Edenia, Jade became one of her most trusted aides.
