Remy LeBeau was born in New Orleans and grew up to become a member
of the notorious Thieves Guild. He posesses the mutant ability to
kinetically charge inanimate objects, causing them to explode. Whereas
these powers would normally serve to alienate a mutant, the theives welcomed
Remy's abilities. Through his daring exploits, he came to be known as
Gambit, and when the Guild broke up he left New Orleans. He became involved
in some truly evil schemes, but soon realized the error of his ways and
came to join the X-Men. He fell in love with Rogue
, and she did much to turn his life around. Although some of the
X-Men do not totally trust him, he has proven that he is not the same man he
was.
